Wafer paper can also be used as a burn-away sheet that you find on trend in different markets. Edible Burn Paper is a flexible, edible sheet of wafer paper that's often used for cake decorating. It's also known as rice paper, and is usually made from potato or rice starch, water, and vegetable or sunflower oil. Wafer paper has a similar texture to printer paper, but it's vegan, gluten-free, and free from most allergens. It has a subtle flavor and won't interfere with the taste of a cake. Once the wafer paper is lit it will burn away to the edges/boarder of the buttercream dam. Wafer paper is edible when burned and tastes like a roasted marshmallow.
